Laughter

Dear Sammy,

Today you laughed for us twice! It was adorable and absolutely hilarious! I tried to record it, but you must have known, because you wouldn't do it again. One of these days...

Right now, I'm feeding you and staring down at you falling in and out of sleep. You're wearing an adorable yellow onesie with a monkey on the front. It's appropriate, since I call you my little monkey. Your grandparents call you 'Snotterlumps'.. Don't ask, I have no idea.

Tonight the Crosstown Classic is being played on the South side of Chicago. Our Cubbies won 6-3! It's always a good day when the Cubs win a game, even better when it's against the White Sox! (A side note - the Cubs played the Yankees this past weekend and lost the series 2-1.. A fact that your Dad enjoys..)

You're drifting to sleep now, baby.. I hope you're having sweet dreams. I love you.

Love, Mom

PS - Here's a picture of you from today.. Love the smiles!

Father's Day #1

Dear Sammy,

Today is your Dad's first Father's Day. He's pretty ecstatic, honestly. Seeing you two together is quite something. The way each of your eyes light up, the way your Dad melts when you smile and coo just for him; it's priceless.

We are so happy to have you in our lives, baby. I cannot imagine how we ever got on without you! I know you won't remember this day, but I am sure your Dad will hold it in his heart forever.

Happy 2 month birthday!

So Sammy, good morning =)

I had to leave you and mommy today, you were fussing and just starting to wake up. Mommy got up with me, and fixed her coffee after she took you out of the crib and laid you in bed with her. Apparently she took too long for your liking =)

Yesterday was your 2 month checkup, and you were 22 inches long, and weighed in at 10lbs and 11 ounces. I had guess 11lbs 9ozs, and I think mommy's guess was 12lbs 4ozs? I may be a bit off on that, I'll have to ask her =) Well that just goes to prove that weighing you in her arms on the bathroom scale is NOT accurate LOL.

You seem no worse for wear this morning after your shots, but we'll see how you do today. I will be missing you and mommy a lot, as I always do. Tonight, we may be going out to dinner with Mr. Bob from work, so we'll see if you are as good as you usually are =)

OK, Daddy has to go to work now, I love you.

XOXOXO

From Daddy

"My little Sammy,
This is your daddy. I'm sitting here at work, reading mommy's blog for the first time. I'm going to write more as I have time, but I just wanted you to know how much you are loved, and how much you mean to both of us.

Last night, I tried to take a nap with you, and you sure wanted nothing to do with that =) Mommy's right, you do not like being on your back when you're awake, you really don't even like being craddled on your back in our arms. Sitting up is your position of choice. For me, you like it best on my stomach, either facing me watching out the window, or away if we're watching TV.

Love, your Dad =)"

So above is what I started trying to blog to you, about 6 hours ago Sammy... Daddy is very frustrated with this new technology!!! I can't even copy-paste into this thing!!!!

We took you for your doctors visit just earlier, you were a brave little boy, but you sure don't like liquid medicine, just like daddy =) You had 4 shots tonight, 2 in each leg... They hurt a lot, but you stopped crying very quickly. You went to sleep right afterwards, and we took you out to dinner, daddy got fish fry!!! I sure hope you like seafood like me =)

OK, time to go get you up since you're still sleeping so we can snuzzle for a little bit before bedtime... Deadliest Catch is on, we like to watch that! =)

Love, Daddy

 Dear Sammy,

You were due April 10th, 2011, but you were born April 15th at 9:40am. It was a Friday, which is usually tax day, but this year it was the 18th. You weighed 6lbs 8oz and were 19 inches long. You were the most amazing thing I had ever seen. Ever. I still can't believe it, really. I tell your Dad often how well we've done by having you. He's over the moon, by the way. We both are. Your Grandmother (Uno) keeps telling me to write things down, but I get so distracted by playing with you that I forget. So, in an attempt to not forget the little milestones, I've created this; a little blog dedicated to you.

You are almost two months old and have quite the little personality. You absolutely hate to lay flat while awake, you must sit up and look at things all the time. Your smile is absolutely infectious. You've been cooing for awhile now, and it lights up our life. Grandma Uno came over on Tuesday and was holding you up, and you were taking steps on the couch to get closer to me. It was amazing. Soon enough you'll be crawling and walking on your own, but for now, we just practice. :) You have also been able to put the pacifier back into your mouth on your own (although your Dad hasn't witnessed it yet) and you can kick your legs up high and over the travel bassinet. This doesn't surprise me, however, because you used to kick me all the time while I was pregnant with you. No worries there, I loved it, even when it was sometimes uncomfortable.

We've taken you home to Illinois for the first time over Memorial Day weekend and you got to meet all of my family. Well, Grandpa and Uncle Nick for the second time around, since they were here the day you were born. Everyone absolutely adored you, but I knew they would.

This Monday you'll go for your doctor's appointment and we'll get a new weight and length. I can't wait to see how much you've grown! But for now, I must go feed you.. You and your Dad were napping and you just woke up!

Love, Mom
